The school has a Board of Directors who work alongside an Advisory Body. Together, they encompass a broad skill set and a wide range of expertise. They collectively monitor compliancy and support the school’s mid- to long-term development plans.

Mr Simon Robinson

Chairman of Burton Hathow Preparatory School Ltd Board and Non-Executive Director of BHPS Ltd

Simon is a co-founder of The Foundry, a London-based software company in the visual effects industry, in which he works as the company’s Chief Scientist. He has 20 years’ worth of experience in the film and broadcast industry and was awarded a Sci-Tech Academy Award© in 2007. He was also voted number 52 in Fast Company’s 2010 annual ranking of the 100 most creative people in business. Simon has a BA Honours degree in Engineering and Computing from Cambridge University and is an Adjunct Professor at Trinity College, Dublin.

Mr Alan Lyons

Non-Executive Director of BHPS Ltd Board

Alan is a qualified commercial accountant (CIMA) and has worked as a CFO in a number of businesses, both nationally and internationally. He began his career with Ruston Gas Turbines and has since led finance teams for Alstom, Siemens, Helius Energy and, currently, Fleet Essentials.

Mrs Penny Ford

Executive Director of BHPS Ltd Board

Penny graduated from Bishop Grosseteste College in 2000 with an Honours degree in English and QTS. She has worked in the independent sector since 2004, when she joined St Mary’s Preparatory school as Head of English. She was later appointed Deputy Head in 2009. When the school merged with Lincoln Minster in 2011 she was appointed Deputy Head and Head of Upper School with over 300 on roll. In 2012, she made the decision to create a different and unique type of preparatory education within Lincolnshire. Burton Hathow Preparatory School opened its doors in January 2013. In addition to her role as Executive Director, Penny is the Independent Schools Association, Assistant Area Coordinator, for the Midlands area.

Claire Lyons

Executive Director & Head

Claire graduated in 1998 with a degree in Drama and went on to work in Theatre in Education, both nationally and internationally. Upon her return to the UK, she undertook her official teacher training at Bishop Grosseteste University before going on to work in the state and independent sector, leading both Drama and English departments.

Claire is now Head at Burton Hathow.

Mrs Laura Robinson

Laura graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1988 with a degree in history. After working at the Richmond Fellowship, a mental health charity, she qualified as a solicitor, eventually specialising in community care and mental health law.

Mrs Katie Smith

Katie is a nurse working in Primary Care. Her three children attended St Mary’s Preparatory School, and she became heavily involved in school life as chair of the fundraising committee and then as a Governor; roles which she considers to have been hugely rewarding. She is actively involved in many elements of our unique independent preparatory school, providing the nurture and support with which children can reach their potential in an inspiring, safe environment. Katie’s particular interest is in the health and welfare of the children, including child protection.

Mr Andrew Vasey

Andrew Vasey spent thirty-seven years in State Education, as Primary School, Advisory, Deputy Head, and subsequently Head Teacher at Cherry Willingham Primary School, where the management of the school was praised in three successful Ofsted inspections. He has experience as acting Head Teacher in establishments ranging from a village school with fewer than forty pupils to an inner-city school, which he led out of the Ofsted Special Measures grading in 1999. Since his retirement, he has been recruited by Bishop Grosseteste University College and is contracted as a Visiting Tutor. He is a former playing member and former Chairman of Lincoln Rugby Club.

Mrs Lucy Pitfield

Lucy Pitfield

Chair of the Advisory Body

Lucy is an independent Human Resources Consultant supporting SMEs with all aspects of HR. Lucy has also worked with government funded adult education since she set up Choose ICT Ltd as a training provider in 2002. Lucy graduated in 2009 with a Business Management with Human Resources Management degree and also holds a Level 7 Advanced CIPD qualification in Human Resource Management. Lucy is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) as well as a mother of four children.

Mrs Lottie Meeson

Mrs Charlotte Meeson

After finishing her BSc Hons degree in Agriculture and Land Management at The Royal Agricultural College, Lottie worked for 3 years for a small marketing company in Wiltshire before moving to London to be Gallery Manager for Philip Mould. Lottie spent 14 years working with Philip involved with the buying and selling of high end British art. A move to Lincolnshire 15 years ago saw a change in career direction and a few years later the arrival of their daughter. Lottie is now the Regional Organiser for the conservation charity, Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust her role entails organising large fund raising events throughout her region. She juggles this with farming life. Lottie served for several years as a Governor at her local village school. Her daughter has just left Burton Hathow and is now at Worksop College. Chloë was one of the first pupils to join nursery at Burton Hathow when the school first opened.
