The Christmas fete was a roaring success again this year. With a special visit from Father Christmas on his horse drawn sleigh (the reindeer are resting) the children had a magical time visiting him in the woods. The fire kept them warm as they waited and they happily chomped on roasted marshmallows in their fairly lights lit surroundings - magical! There was a huge variety of stalls and both children and parents were happily catered for in this evening of fun.

Primary Task Master

We completed our first of many Taskmaster events, inspired by the popular TV programme on Dave. Children took part in numerous tasks from creating art out of toilet paper, working our Mr Daly's age in years, months, weeks, minutes etc... it took them a while!

The half term started with Burton Hathow’s biggest sporting achievement so far. After the previous terms performance by the U11 mixed hockey team we decided to enter the ISA Midlands U11 Mixed Hockey Tournament at Cannock Hockey Club in Staffordshire.

In the build up to Christmas we have been learning about Christmas customs and traditions in Spain. Year 1 and Year 2 have been learning more about ‘el dia de Reyes’ (the day of the kings.)

The introduction of 'The Curiosity Approach' has generated lots of awe, wonder and imagination. We have explored traditional authentic resources involving having a tea party with a China tea set, counting out groups of objects using corks and acorns, making transient art, creating dens in the Forest and so much more.
