In Nursery, we have been talking about the weather (hace calor and hace frio). We have also talked about how we feel (muy bien, regular and mal). Nursery are getting very confident at greeting people in Spanish and also naming some of the drinks that they like at snack time (leche and agua). Can they name any colours for you?

Reception

We are getting very good at singing the Christmas song ‘En Navidad’ and we know that turrón and mazapán are yummy treats eaten around this time of year. We have been looking at lots of stories and using the pictures to count the items we see and name the colours. We are getting very good at the detective game, which involves asking questions to find out who is the impostor.

Year 1

We have been working hard at writing words, some from memory and other times by looking at stories and the whiteboard. Year 1 are confident with saying how they feel and their recall of colour vocabulary is fantástico.

Year 2

We have been looking at naming parts of the body, then listening to a song to find out which parts of the body hurt (ay ay ay) and why they are hurting. We have also taken it in turns to present some members of our family and are realising that words that end with o are often masculine and ending with an a are often feminine.

Year 3

We have been playing a game of Basura o Tesoro (Trash or Treasure) to sort words into masculine/feminine, singular/plural and using clues to help us out. We are continuing to gain proficiency is the use of a bilingual dictionary. We’ve also been singing and dancing to a song that reminds us of the days of the week.

Year 4

We have been working on grouping numbers so that we can look out for clues, such as if it ends with CE or if it starts with DIECI. Lots of careful counting has been taking place as well as number games and listening activities. Recently we have had to work out the answers to maths problems and find the corresponding part of a jigsaw puzzle to make a picture.

Year 5

We have been revising opinion words and trying to justify our opinions with reasons. We each videoed ourselves sharing our opinions for the rest of the class to translate into English. We know what an infinitive is, what they look like and what they mean.

Year 6

We have been forming sentences about family members, both about physical appearances and their characteristics. We know when to use TIENE and when to use ES.

French club afterschool

As the group have shown so much interest in French food we have been looking at how to say the names of some foods, researching some foods we would like to try and then Mrs. Oldfield brought in escargots, baguettes, croissants and madeleines. The escargots were definitely the ‘Marmite’ of the food items.
