From the Head…Prize Giving

Burton Hathow family… Another year! Another prize giving. Where did that go? Today I would like to use this time that we have together, to convey some important messages not just for our children but I hope for our entire BH family. My talk today is in three parts, but don’t worry, I am not going to speak for too long. I say 3 parts so you can tick them off and hopefully this will keep you engaged. As you know we talk a lot at Burton Hathow about positive energy and the power of positive thoughts. It is important to us at BH that we give our children a giant spring board to prepare them for the future, we are a true Preparatory School and when I say their future I do not just mean that next step in their educational life – we may have 100% success rate at 11 plus, scholarships and first school of choice, but it is more than that.

It really has been an outstanding year, with excellent achievements from all of our BH pupils in every area of their learning! But what, for me, has been the highlight, was listening to our Year 6 pupils telling us what Burton Hathow means to them at Prize Giving this year. The Burton Hathow magic truly does exist, enabling each one of our students to believe in themselves!

The Wildflower Meadow - Year 3 and 4

Rachel Burch, our Head of Art and Design is now a contributor to AccessArt. Mrs Burch's article below, detailing this project, has been posted on their website: At Burton Hathow we have tremendous outdoor spaces for the children to work in. One of these is our wildflower meadow which every year is truly amazing. Standing at the edge of the meadow we discussed how it could be possible to create a painting that reflected the vast number of grasses, leaves and flowers as well as the insects and birds that visited it. We talked about the movement of the plants and how to show the effect of the wind on them.

Sports Day 2019

A delayed sports day 2019 was a superb event. The wet weather had caused the event to be cancelled meaning the children spent another week practicing the events Our sports day is slightly different to primary schools. We base ours on traditional Olympic events of running, throwing and jumping.
