Hello all! What a super busy half term we have had! Our Space topic has been very well received by the children and we can safely say they have launched themselves into all aspects! Our Literacy work has seen us write our own newspaper reports about toys in space, we have explored speech marks in text, expression when reading and we have even written some instructions on how to make space slime!
In Maths, we have been using 2D and 3D shapes to create rockets, identifying these shapes in our environment, we have introduced time-telling and have worked a lot on our number bonds to 10 and 20!
Our Art and D.T lessons have been super exciting! We have designed and made parachutes to fly our toys back down to earth, we have created some beautiful paintings of rockets and made some 3D rockets, too! We linked science and D.T together in creating space slime which the children loved! We moved some of our art sessions into the forest where we worked in teams to create ephemeral rocket art!
We concluded the half-term by partaking in a wonderful competition called ‘Age on the Stage’, ran by Age UK. We joined forces with our friends at Tennyson Wharf Care Home to perform some songs which surely took them back to their youth! ‘Young at Heart’ made the final which is set to take place on Saturday 22nd February- fingers crossed!
