They askesd her: "How did you persuade your child to read instead of playing with smart devices?!"
She said: "Children don't hear us, they imitate us."
How often as parents have we said: "Do as I say...' yet what we do ourselves is often the opposite? I recently came across the above picture and quote and I really couldn't resist the urge to share it with you. Not that I think that I am the perfect parent by any means. I completely understand the battle that we have to limit the time our children spend on electronic devices, yet when I saw this it made me think, what are my children seeing me do? How often am I there with my head stuck in a device rather than listening to them or reading to myself simply for pleasure? I hope that this image inspires you as parents to take that time to read in front of your childen and to show them the pleasure that they can get by visiting different places and meeting different characters in the world of imagination. Have a fabulous half term and take a bit of time to read that book that you've been meaning to read!
