Year 4 have been looking at classification of living things using the Linnaean system (kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species).We have studied some of the mammalian orders such as rodents, cetaceans, pinnipeds and primates.
Year 5 have been looking at the plant kingdom and investigating photosynthesis (including an experiment to extract the chlorophyll from a leaf), pollination (including the dissection of a flower to identify the stamens and stigma) and seed dispersal.
Year 6 have just started what most people find the most exciting project of the year – making the steady hand games! This involves soldering the circuit components into the correct places on a board, attaching battery clips and buzzers and building the outer.
