As we approach the final week of this half term, the children’s enthusiasm for learning remains bright and they continue to thrive during their varied learning experiences every single day.

At Burton Hathow, we truly value the wide range of extracurricular activities available to the children, providing them with opportunities to discover new passions and nurture existing ones. It’s wonderful to see the creativity and perseverance displayed in knitting club, where a variety of techniques are used to create beautiful products. Animation club has been refining their stop-motion skills in preparation for their final movies next week, while the enthusiasm in quiz club is truly infectious. In French club, the children show great dedication in learning an additional language. Our ongoing chess challenge is also in full swing, with the children developing their skills each week through friendly competition.

This week, we had a fantastic WOW event in Nursery, where parents were invited to join in with maths activities alongside the young learners in Caterpillars and Butterflies. We aim to continue offering opportunities for parents to engage in learning activities with their children, recognising the positive impact this can have. I’d also like to highlight the brilliant support provided by our Year 5 and 6 students, who showed maturity and engaged excellently with the younger pupils.

Reception class held their very own Burton Hathow Bake Off! They used fine motor skills when separating egg whites and yolks, as well as maths skills when measuring ingredients. They also practiced safe cutting methods, including the bridge and claw techniques.

In other news, Year 1 and 2 are diving deep into their weather topic, and the children have been developing their speaking and listening skills through weather presentations.
