We hope you all had a wonderful half-term break! We’re delighted to be back at school and have kicked off the term with an exciting array of experiences to captivate and inspire the children.
On Wednesday, the school participated in a very special ‘Museum Day,’ focusing on the fascinating history of toys. The day began with an engaging assembly led by Mrs Oldfield and Mrs Robinson, where the children learned about the skills involved in curating and conserving objects for a museum. This provided a valuable opportunity for the children to understand the care and responsibility needed to preserve history.

Afterwards, the children worked in their houses to curate their very own museum exhibits of toys from the past. They identified, sorted, and classified the objects, and assessed their condition to determine whether any restoration was necessary. These activities helped develop critical thinking, organisational skills, and an appreciation for historical artifacts. Their hard work culminated in a wonderful museum exhibition that staff and parents were able to tour which was a fantastic way to celebrate the children’s efforts and boost their confidence.
Meanwhile, Reception explored the flavours of India by sampling the cuisine and even creating their own tasty dishes! This hands-on approach sparked curiosity and introduced them to the joy of culinary creativity and the importance of trying new things.

In science, Year 5 dove into the intricate world of plants by dissecting flowers to learn about their parts and functions. This kind of practical, tactile learning helps cement abstract concepts and fosters a deep connection with the natural world.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled about our upcoming World Book Day celebrations on Friday 7th March. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book characters, allowing them to express their creativity and love of reading. The day will include exciting activities inspired by the whimsical world of ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
