A new term and a new PE team at Burton Hathow with Mr Stanney and Mr Cox joining Mr Bell in the BH PE & Games staff.
This term we focused on hockey and rugby. All of our lessons are co-curricular giving our children a great experience of both sports
Fixtures started with U11 hockey away at Hillhouse School, Doncaster. The first time Team BH had played Hillhouse.
Our team performed very well considering we had only 2 lessons before the fixture. The final score was 7-2 to BH. For some of our students it was their first game for school.
The following Wednesday we took 2 U11 teams to Orchard for an afternoon of rugby and hockey matches. Four games were played with BH winning 3 and the other game ending in a draw.
Our U9 Rugby team visited Highfields for a rugby festival with the focus being about learning together. A very successful and enjoyable afternoon with Highfields winning the final game.
U9 Rugby team then visited St Hugh’s to play their first proper fixture of the term. A highly competitive fixture took place with St Hugh’s shading the game 5-3.
Orchard visited Burton Hathow for a joint training session at the start of October. Giving our students the opportunity to work with students from another school. We worked on passing and connecting with our team mates. Both schools really benefitted from the opportunity.
Both U9 and U11 rugby teams visited Ranby for a usual tough fixture against a good rugby school.
Our U9s battled hard against their team losing by 1 score. Lily and Inambao playing very well.
The U11 game was wonderful to watch. Both teams displaying their learning from throughout the term.
An even 1st half but BH pulled away In the 2nd half to win by 2 tries. Ellis scoring on his rugby debut for BH.
Last week was a busy week for fixtures.
We began by hosting 2 U11 rugby matches vs Orchard.
Both BH teams playing some good rugby as a team.
We then visited Lincoln Minster Senior School to play against their Year 7 group and William Farr secondary school.
Our team was an even split of year 5 and 6 students.
Some excellent attacking hockey was on show, using the space and connecting well with each other. BH won 5-0 and 3-0 on the day. Was lovely to see some Old Hathownians playing for W.F school.
Our last fixture of the term was a U11 hockey match at Orchard. The challenge for our students was playing on grass. After playing on Astro the day before our children found it hard to adapt.
The longer the game went on the better BH played. The game ended with a BH win with the majority of the BH children scoring a goal.
After half term the hockey and rugby fixtures keep coming until Christmas.
