An amazing half term for the children and the sports department and Fixtures returned!
We started our fixtures at St Hugh’s. Our U11 team was so happy to have fixtures back and also ecstatic to go on the new bus too! St Hugh’s batted aggressively and scored 278 runs. BH started their run chase at a steady pace, needing 25 runs from our last pair of Harry and Harrison. Harry hit the winning runs on the last ball of the match to the delight of his team mates. What a way to re-start fixtures!
We then attended a U11 mixed cricket tournament at Highfield’s. Our teams finished 4th and 2nd with some great cricket played by all the teams participating. Sebastian bowled very well on the day and Lydia contributed fantastically with the bat.
Unfortunately, the U9 game we had scheduled was cancelled due to the weather. The U9 team has been working very hard on their batting this term. We have some big hitters coming through the school which is exciting.
The U11 Year 6 group finished the fixtures with a game at Handel House, Gainsborough. Mr Bell was extremely pleased with the progress the group has made in such a short amount of time. A special mention to Bella, Chloe, Eliza and Lydia who have taken to cricket brilliantly and all contributed with runs, wickets and catches in this game. BH bowled very well and reduced the opponents to 245. When it was our turn to bat, we scored 318 meaning the Year 6 group were victorious in their last game for Burton Hathow.
