Our main focus for this term was Hockey with the odd rugby fixture thrown in to challenge our pupils on remembering their learning from the previous half term.
We started with some mixed touch rugby away at St Hughs.
The U8 mixed team played their first games for Burton Hathow. Some excellent skills on display with St. Hugh’s running out winners at the final whistle.
The U9 Mixed team had a super competitive game, demonstrating some superb attacking rugby. The game ended in an 8-8 draw.
Our U10s played their first competitive fixture for over a year. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Losing 10-3 but demonstrating excellent skills in the process.
The U11 mixed team had an excellent game vs the U11 boys of St Hughs. Both teams enjoying periods of pressure with a 4-4 final score, both teams deserved the draw.
All of our U9 children made the trip back to St. Hugh’s for a joint hockey session which was a fantastic success.
Our U11 mixed hockey team attended Worksop College for a tournament. We played 3 games at the event and came away with 3 wins! Winning 3-0, 2-0 and 2-1 with all players contributing to the fantastic results.
The term finished with the annual Highfields Cross Country event. On a very cold afternoon, our children were a credit to Burton Hathow. A real show of sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the event. A very special mention to Connie who won the girls U9 race which had over 40 entries from 8 different schools. A wonderful achievement by Connie.
